Why You Want A Wedding Planner - Part I

True stories of my experiences on the job coordinating weddings and events.

May 10th, 2008 - Riverside Albert, New Brunswick ... Tented wedding reception on private grounds owned by the bride and groom. Temperature outside? 2 degrees Celsius. So, it was a wee bit chilly. It was not exactly what the couple had hoped for but, nonetheless they were happy and newly married. The happily married bride and groom were off having their photos taken while 80 guests enjoyed cocktails and music inside the heated tent. What is the problem? The DJ has just set up and upon plugging in, has shorted the entire electric supply to the tent. No music, no lights and no heat for the 80 guests awaiting the arrival of the unsuspecting couple. Their parents could take care of it, you say? No can do, they are also having photos taken. Bridal party? Nope, they too were with the couple and unable to help ...

The guests were now sitting in the dark, cold and unsure of what to do. Luckily, this smart couple had a wedding planner and she had an assistant. There was an electrician called upon the scene within minutes, who found the shorted circuit, fixed it and restored power to the reception. The entire process took approximately an hour. In the meantime, the guests were taken inside the parlour area of the property where catering was redirected. Upon their return, the bride and groom were kept in the dark (no pun intended) about the goings on outside, so that they would not worry about said catastrophe! They had hired someone else to sweat it out so that they wouldn't have to! Like most crazy occurrences, this is a story which is now looked back on and laughed about!

Phew.

While these photos may not all come from Christmas or winter themed weddings, red has been a popular and classic colour theme for years! These are just a few photos from past KTB events in which red was the theme and colour of choice!!

Lest We Forget - Charlottetown Remebrance Day Service

“Year after year we gather and shout commands in the Square,
Wait for the Governor-General, say a few words of prayer,
Lay our wreaths in order, mothers and big shots first,
In memory of those who have made it to the other side of the worst.”
– George Johnston, Canadian poet, Remembrance, 1966

Devine Details Bridal Show - October 8th, 2010

I was invited to participate in the Devine Details Bridal Show back in April and I could not let the opportunity pass by. Randy Fenoli was to be the guest speaker at the event and with such fantastic organization I knew the show would be a huge success! I was right! Randy was a fantastic and very motivational speaker who graciously took over an hour to sign autographs and take photos with over 100 anxious people afterward! He was very sweet and kind. It was a fantastic day for vendors and brides to be!

My book!

My booth partner and friend, Rachel Peters holding one of her gorgeous canvasses!

Our booth was a bit disheveled after 400+ brides visited us!

Randy's great speech!

The line to meet Randy!

Celeste & Brodie

Celeste & Brodie were married in July at Lakeside Golf & Country Club in Moncton. We were able to completely transform the club house into a stunning reception oasis. The bride and groom chose green and eggplant as their colours with silver as an accent. Silver chiavari chairs added the perfect touch to the decor along with the 10 ft chandelier which hung over the dance floor! Celeste had a mixture of lavender roses, green spiders, mums and orchids in her bouquet.

The hanging balls of green mums which served as aisle markers and hung from shepherd hooks doubled as centrepieces after the ceremony took place. They were alternated between high glass vase arrangements on the long guest tables.

We enjoyed planning this wedding from afar with Celeste and Brodie! Congratulations!

Michelle & Henri

photography by photographybyrachel.com

I met with Michelle and Henri for the first time the night before their wedding and immediately I fell in love. Michelle & I had been speaking through phone and email for months but being able to finally put faces to the voices was great! Their wedding was held at The Stanley Bridge resort on PEI. It was a perfect summer day for the outdoor ceremony. Michelle and her entourage of girls arrived at the resort in a white limo. The limo took Michelle and her girls to the ceremony site, which took place on the lawn of the resort over looking the water where 100 guests awaited her arrival.

Their reception was filled with heart felt speeches, adorable stories and even a beautiful performance by Henri to his new bride on the guitar. Their cake was made by a family friend and Michelle chose calla lilies for her bouquets. The centrepieces were a gathering of bear grass cascading out of glass vases. The natural lighting and white colour scheme set the perfect scene for a romantic evening!

Congratulations and best wishes in the future Michelle & Henri!!

PEI

Being on PEI so far has been fantastic! What a hot spot in the summer! It is truly the perfect place for a destination wedding in Canada. Right now we have just wrapped up the Cavendish Music Festival which was a huge success and this week Regis & Kelly are in town airing live from the Charlottetown waterfront. It's a great time to be here! Every place you go celebrities are all around. You can't walk down the street without seeing someone famous and Islanders are enjoying every minute of showing off the beauty that is PEI! We are thrilled to be here and can't wait to see what the future holds for Kiss The Bride on PEI!

We Are Moving!!

Yep, it's true! Kiss The Bride is relocating to Prince Edward Island!!
We are so thrilled to be moving to such an amazing place!! Everyone knows that P.E.I. is the most beautiful province in Canada. As of this July, Kiss The Bride will be based out of Charlottetown. Of course, we are still offering service to the rest of the Maritimes! We are officially the only WPIC certified coordinators located in the province!! :)

Prince Edward Island has been marketing to the destination brides for the past few years as Canada's destination hot spot. It continues to be one of the most breath taking places for couples to marry, visit, honeymoon and enjoy.

What's not to love?
We're talking, the nicest people, warmest hospitality, most beautiful beaches, greenest golf courses, most mouth watering food.... need I go on?
